Italy has renewed its support for a two-state solution to the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict and its resolve to halt violence in the region and foster legislative and presidential polls.
"DM @MarinaSereni met with a delegation of Palestinian mayors," the foreign ministry tweeted on Monday.
"Reiterated Italy's commitment to stop violence and help the electoral process in Palestine," the tweet stated.
"Italy strongly supports the two-state solution."
Local authorities have a crucial role to play in building a just and sustainable peace between Israel and the Palestinians, the tweet underlined.
