Following Russian troops' apparent retreat from near Kyiv last week, Italy is mulling whether to move its envoy to Ukraine and its embassy back to the capital from the western city of Lviv.
"We are evaluating whether to move our ambassador Pier Francesco Zazo and our embassy in Ukraine, which is currently located in Lviv, back to Kyiv," foreign minister Luigi Di Maio said.
"Clearly, this requires an analysis of security on the ground, which we are carrying out, and secondly, coordination with all our partners and allies....to be part of any move to transfer embassies back to Kyiv," he went on.
Di Maio was speaking on the sidelines of a NATO foreign ministers' meeting in Brussels.
