Italy and Turkey will on Tuesday sign a raft of cooperation accords, and coordinate their actions to combat the impact of Russia's invasion of Ukraine and its grain blockade and to tackle a recent surge in Mediterranean migration.

Premier Mario Draghi, foreign minister Luigi Di Maio, defence minister Lorenzo Guerini, industry minister Giancarlo Giorgetti and ecological transition minister Roberto Cingolani are due to attend the third intergovernmental summit in Ankara as part of moves to comprehensively deepen ties between Italy and Turkey.

Besides inking bilateral accords in areas ranging from foreign policy and defence cooperation to help for to small-to-medium-sized companies and sustainable development, Italy will also support Turkey's mediation efforts in the Ukraine conflict at Tuesday's summit.
