Italy congratulates Iraq on G77 chairmanship

Italy's embassy in Iraq has congratulated Iraq on its chairmanship of the Group of 77 coalition of developing countries at the United Nations.

"Congratulations to Iraq as the new Chair of the #G77 Group!" the embassy wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

"Best of luck to the Iraqi authorities for this new prestigious role, showcasing Iraqi capabilities as a driver for peace in the world," the tweet added.

Founded in 1964, the G77 now has 134 member countries. The coalition aims to promote its members' joint economic interests and negotiating power at the UN.
