From this month, electricity supplied to the foreign ministry is certified as coming from renewable sources produced in Italy by state-owned firm Gestore Servizi Energetici (GSE) under its 'guarantee of origin' system issued.
"This choice is intended to support energy production from renewable sources and is part of the wider 'foreign ministry goes green' scheme, through which the ministry pursues environmental sustainability objectives," according to a ministry statement on Thursday.
