November 28, 2024_ The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) of the Philippines continued its investigation today into Vice President Sara Duterte’s threats to assassinate President Marcos, the First Lady, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez. Duterte has not confirmed whether she will appear before the NBI, despite having requested an adjournment to attend a hearing on the handling of restricted funds. The House committee canceled her hearing so as not to give Duterte a pretext to avoid meeting with the NBI. The Department of Justice has clarified that Duterte can request a new appointment with the NBI, which could take place early next week. The Philippine Star reported. The investigation focuses on possible violations of the Penal Code regarding serious threats, while the Vice President has justified her statements as taken out of context.
