German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is hosting a summit today with representatives of industry associations, trade unions and large companies. The meeting at the Chancellery will focus on the issue of electricity prices in Germany, which are among the highest in Europe.
With new elections scheduled for February 23, following the collapse of the government coalition last week, the chancellor is trying to get at least some of the measures he wants passed before the end of the legislature. The summit was called by Scholz to try to find a way to ease the economic burden on businesses.
