A blast hit an oil refinery in northern Italy on Tuesday belonging to Eni but did not cause a fire or injure anyone, the energy major said in a short statement.
The explosion occurred in a part of a gasification plant at the Sannazzaro de' Burgondi refinery, near the city of Pavia, according to the statement.
"Assessments are underway to quantify the damages. The refinery is now in regular operation," the statement said.
The blast "generated a certain amount of smokiness that subsided after about 10 minutes," the statement noted.
The statement gave no information on the cause of the explosion.
